We have a humanitarian crisis in our southern border. The Trump administration responded by separating hundreds of migrant children from their parents as they sought safety. It responded by deploying the military. It responded by building walls through communities and creating detention camps on military bases to house refugee families.

Actor George Takei reminds us that the internment of his family more than 76 years ago took place because of fear, prejudice, and a failure of our political leaders. These same factors help fuel the border crises today.

Rejecting efforts to further divide our communities is the first step toward being able to rebuild and strengthen our democracy.

Call on your member of Congress to reject spending billions of dollars to keep out and lock up refugee families.
