We live in troubling times. First, the Trump administration separated children from their parents as they sought safety. Hundreds remain separated today. Then, they responded to a humanitarian crisis on our borders by deploying troops. Today, they are building walls through communities and creating detention camps on military bases to house refugee families.
Congress has a critical choice to make before the end of the year. Is this the nation we want to be?
George Takei reminds us that the internment of his family and so many others took place because of three things: fear, prejudice, and a failure of our political leadership. Rejecting efforts to further divide our communities is the first step toward being able to rebuild and strengthen our democracy.
Call on your member of Congress to reject spending billions of dollars to keep out and lock up refugee families.
