Two decades ago, extreme violence in Sudan killed over 300,000 civilians. Today, widespread and horrific violent conflict once again plagues the people of Sudan. Since war broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023, more than 8.5 million people have fled their homes, and over 16,000 civilians have been killed.
Previous attempts at negotiations between the warring parties have failed, but as the situation grows more dire, the people of Sudan need a redoubling of the international community's efforts. FCNL strongly urges Congress and the administration to use its diplomatic influence and humanitarian assistance to help the Sudanese people.
You can help support peace by raising awareness of this conflict in your local newspaper and inviting others to urge our elected leaders to speak out.
