Climate change is real, is worsened by human activity. Like the Covid-19 pandemic, it will continue to harm our communities in ways that we cannot even imagine. We need to act now. Congress has a moral obligation to protect vulnerable communities and address climate change with the seriousness it demands.
Many economists agree that putting a price on carbon is the most cost-effective way to reduce carbon emissions at the scale and speed we need. And it’s a solution that holds polluters accountable. This is a matter of fairness. Simply put, polluters must pay.
