Stop Gun Violence Before It Happens

The gun violence epidemic facing our country is a moral and public health crisis that can be ended–but only if Congress takes action.

Background checks have successfully prevented more than 3 million gun purchases by people who shouldn’t have access to firearms. But our current laws have loopholes that allow these same people to acquire guns without a background check.

Universal background checks are a systematic way to prevent dangerous people from obtaining guns. Urge your senators to pass S. 42—the Background Check Expansion Act—to require federal background checks for all firearm purchases.
