The Senate has passed a $3.5 trillion budget resolution. This budget resolution would fund much needed paid family and medical leave, education from childhood to young adult, expands nutrition assistance, housing assistance, and clean energy initiatives. It could also extend the critical expansions made to the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, cutting child poverty nearly in half.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted structural weaknesses in the U.S. economy. In this moment, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform our economy to address these inequities.
